1. Outlets and switches
Plan cuts and cover-plate fit before setting tile. If boxes, devices or appliance connections need alteration, the required electrical or other trade work is identified separately.
2. Exposed ends and corners
Review trim profiles, suitable mitres, returns and the meeting point with cabinets or windows. Decide where the tile finishes before the layout is fixed.
3. The countertop line
The wall-to-countertop junction and changes of plane need the appropriate joint detail. Tile layout should not simply follow an uneven countertop without review.

How much does kitchen backsplash installation cost in Vancouver?
The labour guide above gives planning ranges by material. The complete quote also depends on wall area, pattern, outlet cuts, edges, removal, repairs, access and the agreed materials. Small or detailed projects are assessed as a complete scope rather than a square-foot rate alone.
How long does installation take?
Straightforward backsplashes are often planned over one to two site days. Removal, wall repairs, mosaics, natural stone, larger panels and product curing requirements can extend the schedule. We confirm work stages and when the area can be used before installation.
Do you supply tile or provide installation only?
This service is installation only. You or your project team select and source the tile. We review its dimensions, backing, installation requirements, layout and the agreed grout and edge details before work begins.
Can you remove an existing backsplash or repair a small area?
Share photographs of the existing finish and any damage. Removal, disposal and wall preparation can be included in the written scope. A local repair depends on the underlying condition and availability of matching tile and grout; a seamless match cannot be assumed.
Can you install over painted drywall or existing tile?
The wall must be suitable for the selected installation system. Paint condition, adhesion, contamination, flatness and any existing finish need assessment. Removal, cleaning, patching, priming or a different substrate may be required; installing over an existing surface is not assumed.
Do you install glass, mosaics, marble and large-format backsplashes?
We review suitable ceramic, porcelain, glass, mosaic and natural-stone finishes. Larger porcelain panels and actual slab installations require confirmation of product dimensions, access, handling, fabrication, seams and specialist responsibilities.
What about outlets, appliances and the range hood?
The layout accounts for visible openings and edges. Electrical changes, plumbing, gas connections, appliance movement and hood work are confirmed separately with the appropriate trades. Appliance clearances follow the relevant product requirements.
Do stone tile or grout need sealing?
That depends on the selected tile and grout. Many ceramic and porcelain surfaces do not need sealing; some stone and grout products do. We review the manufacturer’s care instructions and agree on any sealing included in the scope.
Do you work in condos and outside Vancouver?
Yes. We serve Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, including Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Langley, Delta and the North Shore. For condos, confirm permitted work hours, access, elevator bookings and any strata documentation before scheduling.
